In addition to the broadcast and ancillary media rights of NASCAR’s domestic broadcasters, NASCAR Media Group also manages the distribution of international rights.
Fueled by season-long television broadcasts, NASCAR International delivers programming to viewers in more than 170 countries and in more than 20 languages each week. NASCAR also supports America’s service personnel through a long-standing programming arrangement with the American Forces Network (AFN), which brings NASCAR race broadcasts to more than 1 million members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families stationed around the globe.
NASCAR continues to strengthen its relationships with more than 25 broadcast partners in key markets throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia/Pacific Rim, Pan-Regional Europe, Middle East and Africa, and French-speaking territories worldwide. NASCAR’s international broadcast partners aired more than 4,000 hours of NASCAR-related programming in 2011.
Since 2004, NASCAR has had a full time presence in Canada and Mexico to further develop the sport, expand NASCAR’s reach and help NASCAR’s partners activate in new markets. NASCAR continues to achieve record-breaking television ratings in motorsports in Canada and is competitive with other U.S. sports properties on television in a number of major international markets.
NASCAR International provides international broadcast partners with commercial-free, live race broadcasts, clear of any network branding or sponsored elements; highlight programs for major NASCAR series and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series; ancillary programming and highlight shows; and at-track support for broadcasters looking to attend races and cover the events live and conduct their own interviews.
